Dusty Gunn - Athletic Director
A former full-scholarship Quarterback at Valdosta State University, Dusty has been an effective leader throughout his career. Following his service in the U.S. Coast Guard, Dusty was an economics teacher and valuable member of the football coaching staff at Camden County HS in Kingsland, GA that won back-to-back AAAAA state championships (2008/09) and was named ‘team of the decade’ by the Atlanta Journal Constitution in 2010. As a senior level healthcare executive, Dusty won numerous awards for his dedication to others and prides himself in identifying and developing talent in those he serves. Dusty additionally serves as the Executive Director for the UTSC Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) that is dedicated to transforming the lives of local youth through equal opportunities in sports and leadership. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland as well as a Master of Science in Sports Management with extensive post graduate work in education.
Coach Carlos Strong
"My name is Carlos Strong and I’m a native of Athens, Georgia. I played college basketball at the University of Georgia from 1992 until 1996. Following my time at UGA I was blessed to play professionally (NBA & Internationally) for 12 years."
There has never been a more decorated basketball player to come out of Athens than Carlos Strong. As a stalwart of the Cedar Shoals team, he (along with teammate Terrell Bell) was one of the most sought after players in local prep history.
Just about every major college came knocking on the 6 foot 8 inch tall power forward’s door. Eventually Carlos signed with the University of Georgia and led the Bulldogs to post-season tournaments under Hugh Durham.
One of the few McDonalds All-Americans, Carlos played professionally for many years in the NBA and in Europe. Recently, Carlos Strong was inducted into the Athens Hall of Fame.
Determined to give back to his community, Carlos lives in Athens and has launched his own unique style of basketball training for Athens area youth.
Coach Jarius Wynn
Jarius Wynn attended Georgia Military College and was Second-team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honors following the 2006 campaign as well as team captain and defensive MVP. Wynn was rated the No. 1 junior college defensive tackle prospect in the nation for the class of 2007 by JCGridiron.com. He played college football at Georgia. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round (182nd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He won a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wynn has also played for the Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers. Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills.
