UTSC FOUNDATION

Mission:

The United Team Sports Center Foundation is dedicated to transforming the lives of local youth through equal opportunities in sports and leadership.

Vision:

We believe that happy and healthy children lead to happy and healthy families, which leads to a happy and healthy community.

Founded in late 2017, the United Team Sports Center Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that strives to transform the lives of local youth through equal opportunities in sports and leadership. We provide recreational youth sports programs, specialized sports training, nourishment, and supervised study hall to ensure our participants excel physically, socially, and educationally.

Our United Youth Activities Club (UYAC) program’s innovative approach to youth development and physical fitness helps turn the tide on the intergenerational poverty epidemic that has afflicted the Athens community for years by providing our youth a positive outlet to grow and evolve.

Our United Youth Activities Club is currently providing after school transportation from Cleveland Road Elementary and Timothy Road Elementary. UYAC programming is implemented by our UYAC coaches, all of whom are college graduates with backgrounds in Sports Management. Many have worked with the Center since its inception, and are masters of soccer, basketball, fencing, and music who have worked in these realms on a professional level.

On Mondays, youth are scheduled to participate in Strength and Agility Training, which includes various drills, races, and games that keep our students' heart rates up, build endurance and focused energy and is facilitated by our UYAC Coaches.

On Tuesdays, youth participate in NinjaZone, a nationally trademarked curriculum that combines obstacle training, gymnastics, martial arts, and freestyle movement with the freedom for kids to progress and learn at their own pace which is facilitated by Jenessa Collins, a former Auburn University Gymnast.

On Wednesdays, the Guitars Not Guns Program facilitates a musical training program, which provides an outlet through which participants can learn a new skill in the realm of various art forms. Later in the day, former NBA basketball player Carlos Strong facilitates a program called Jr. NBA, an hour-long program session where participants are trained in the fundamentals of basketball.

On Thursdays, fencing classes are offered by the Athens Fencing Club, who put on a hour-long hour-long program session where participants are trained in the sport of fencing.

Finally, Fridays consist of futbol/soccer training, where participants undergo a hour-long program session where participants learn the ins and outs of soccer put on by the Oconee Futbol Club. Our coaching team and UTSC employees help with class facilitation and meal distribution.
